Kenny Smith says Lakers' Bronny James 'deserved' to be drafted.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced widespread criticism for selecting Bronny James, the oldest son of LeBron James, with the 55th overall pick in the second round earlier this summer.  

Bronny only played a few minutes in his one season at USC due to a heart condition, leading many to feel he wasn't ready for the NBA.  

Despite the criticism, James and the Lakers took it in stride, and his play improved throughout Summer League after a shaky start.  

Kenny Smith, a TNT analyst and former NBA star, was one guy who did not like the draft pick.  

He stated that he believes Bronny deserved to be drafted because of his background, according to DJ Siddiqi of Responsible Gambling:
