Easy Kimbap (Korean Sushi Roll)

Kimbap is a popular Korean dish made of rice, vegetables, and meat, rolled in seaweed. This easy recipe is perfect for beginners and makes a great snack or meal. 

– 2 cups cooked rice – 4 sheets seaweed (nori) – 1 carrot, julienned – 1 cucumber, julienned – 4 strips of pickled radish – 4 strips of cooked beef or ham – 2 eggs, beaten and cooked into a thin omelet

Season the cooked rice with a pinch of salt and a splash of sesame oil. Mix well to evenly distribute the seasoning throughout the rice. 

Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo mat, shiny side down. Spread a thin layer of seasoned rice evenly over the seaweed, leaving a small border. 

Place a strip of carrot, cucumber, pickled radish, beef or ham, and a piece of the omelet on top of the rice, near the bottom edge. 

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the seaweed from the bottom, keeping the fillings in place. Press gently to form a tight roll as you go. 

Slice the Kimbap roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices. 

Serve the Kimbap with soy sauce, wasabi, or a side of kimchi. It’s a versatile dish, perfect for lunch, picnics, or as a party appetizer.
